Some tidbits about fun add-ons we've done in the past....

Over the years we've done fun things to mix it up. You might remember the no-frills triathlon we did in the late 90's or the 10th year when we switched all the routes to run backwards and made practically a whole new event.

Remember in 2004 and 2005? We had a Friday night criterium that racers from all around seemed to enjoy. Then in 2006 we did something new for our 15th anniversary to keep it fresh and interesting... the DAM J.A.M. Hill Climb Time Trial.

In 2007 we went back to basics and focused on bringing you the best touring ride in this part of the country.

But we're not done, there's no telling what new thing we might dream up in the future or dust off and bring back. Please stay tuned.

Thank you for playing!

To celebrate our 15th year in 2006, North Point Ford Lincoln-Mercury made it possible for us to give away CASH in the first ever DAM J.A.M. Hill Climb Time Trial!!

Read the rules here.

We have plenty of hills to choose from on our three longest routes. So it could have been anywhere... most of you figured it out because it's the one hill you complain about most.

It was at no extra cost, no obligation. All you had to do was roll up and register on the spot... if you still had legs and were the fastest to the top, you got enough cash to pay your DAM J.A.M entry and probably a nice meal.

The Whole, 3/4, and 1/2 DAM J.A.M. routes each had a place to stop and get a pre-numbered helmet sticker. You presented your helmet sticker when you registered and wore it in the race. No sticker, no cash. Race ended at 2:30 p.m. There was NO PRE-REGISTRATION for the hill climb. You just rolled up and signed up by 2:30 p.m. to participate.

It was fun, you seemed to like it, it made a good celebration extra, and maybe we'll do it again sometime... but not in 2007.

DAM J.A.M Criterium... it was a fun ride!

But after two years of organizing a Friday-night-before-the-tour criterium, we cancelled the race after 2005 while we consider whether to make dramatic improvements or just keep the focus on Saturday.

Here's the rest of the crit page for old time's sake...
